Unlike most composters, the Digester is ideal for meat, fish, bones and diary!
The Solar Digester is a 4 part injection molded unit. It is comprised of an in-ground basket, an above ground, double walled solar chamber and an access lid. The buried digestion chamber basket holds your food scraps while the soil organisms break it down. Sunlight penetrates the outer wall, heating the layer of air between the two layers. The heat is then passively circulated through the system, creating an ideally warm and aerobic environment for the micro-organisms, even in cold weather. Ideally, it should be installed to obtain the maximum sunlight in your yard.
Use the handy Kitchen Caddy with charcoal filter (included with purchase of the digester) to collect kitchen scraps and transport them to your Digester. The bin is designed for kitchen scraps only, including meat, fish, bones, diary, bread and pasta. It is not recommended for pet feces or garden waste. Use only the Compost Bosster Enzyme providedto accelerate the decomposition process. It is not necessary to turn the matter, just throw in your scraps and accelerator and the machine does the rest!
If correctly installed, 1 1/2 to 2 pounds of food scraps can be placed in your Digester everyday. ( a typical amount produced by a family of four)
The Digester requires a soil with good drainage and is ideal for sandy areas like the beach or lakefront.
Kit includes: Digester, Kitchen Caddy, and Accelerator Powder.
